Why does Photoshop CS use Port 53?

ZoneAlarm reports Photoshop CS tries to communicate (with itself or with Adobelmsvc.exe?) via an intranet/internet port 53. On a broadband connection, before Capture One DSLR made this optional, C1-DSLR used port 53 to phone home whenever the app started up.

Couldn’t find any info on this when doing a search here. Does anyone know more about this?

Thanks.

Mike

it’s related to a bug where it tries to contact adobe version que whether VC was installed or not. you can block it if you like. it should be fixed in a future release.

Mike,

used port 53 to phone home whenever the app started up.<<

It only attempted to ‘phone’ your own machine (either 0.0.0.1 or 127.0.0.1) – what you might term as a strictly local call <s>

As Dave says, it’s a V/Cue associated bug

Is there a fix available since this is a bug? Its very annoying and wastes my time.

Thanks,

I wonder how much time and resources CS is spending calling home and checking our images for currency. Whats next: checking for Janet Jackson?

What part of "it should be fixed in a future release" (see Dave Milbut’s post above yours) don’t you understand?

A whole lot less time than you spent typing that post.
