I am planning on getting a second monitor to use with PS.

I searched the help files but couldn’t find anything about it. Does PS work with a dual monitor setup? Is there anything I should know before I buy the 2nd monitor and get started?

Thanks for your help.

Works great. Palettes and tools on the second monitor and the image on the primary one. Note that the image cannot be moved to the secondary monitor.

Bob,

Thanks for the information.

How do I set this up? Is there any documentation somewhere about how to do this and what the features of a dual monitor setup are?

Thanks

It is usually very straightforward. Exactly how it works depends on your graphics card and that is where you should look to for documentation.

Its very easy to set up if your graphics card supports dual monitors. If it does and after installing your second monitor, and using a PC, right click anywhere on your desktop to bring up a menu and click on properties. Display properties should come up and click on settings. You should see two monitors, labeled 1 and 2. You should see a setting that says extend my windows desktop onto this monitor. Check the box and you should be in luck! Remember Mick Murphy’s post check your graphic’s card documentation. If everything works, bring up PhotoShop and enjoy! Dual monitor settings works great in alot of other applications too!

Note that the image cannot be moved to the secondary monitor.

That’s true unless you stretch the entire ps application window across both monitors. Then you can have the image where every you want it. Not everyone (me included) likes to work like that though.
