Whilst watching a .mov of Russell Brown’s entitled Vector Shapes (see http://www.russellbrown.com/body.html and click on ‘More Tips’) I noticed that he has a PS icon up in the right top corner of Illustrator which he clicks on to switch between the 2 programs. I assume this can be done from PS to Illustrator, too but i can find no information on how to get that icon there either in PS help files, or by googling.

I tried dragging the Illustrator icon off my desktop to the PS menu bar – at first it seems like this will work, but it doesn’t. Anyone know how to get that icon there?

TIA

Ian

He was working in Photoshop, not Illustrator. The Photoshop icon in the upper right is an indication that Photoshop is the active application in Mac OS 9. In Mac OS 9, you switch between active apps through clicking on that spot in the upper right hand corner of the screen and choosing from the list that pops down.

I’m afraid you were confused about what application he was working in. There is no such feature.

In mac OS before OS X this operated very much like having the other application open and minimized to the Taskbar in Windows.

However, if you want you can add a shortcut (alias) of the other application to the appropriate folder in Helpers in the Photoshop folder and the next time you open PS you can File>Jump To the other app. If it’s Illustrator it will open your current image in Illustrator. This can also be made into an action.
