Never had the problem until this am when I saved a psd as a jpg. It looks like it saves it, but when I try to reopen the file I get a red x that says " could not open because an invalid jpg marker type is found" What the hell is that? Of course it happens when I am on a deadline, lol. Any suggestions?

I guess I figured it out. I think the psd files I was trying to convert were in cymk format and I changed to baseline and they saved. Who knows if that was it but I was able to convert.

I had a similar problem.
Found a line in the Adobe help files saying that some progs won’t recognise cymk jpegs.
After doing a bit of research I found this
http://www.ledet.com/margulis/ACT_postings/GeneralColor/ACT- PS7CMYK-JPEGbug.htm

In brief some people seem to think it’s a bug in PS which first appeared in v7. But opinions vary – well worth a read if you have the time.

By any chance was it a 16 bit file? I have noticed that if I try to save a 16 bit PSD file to a JPG (8 bit) it either autoconverts it into JPG2000 format (which is 16 bit capable) or does this bizarre attempt at converting to 8 bit JPG files which nothing else can read. The trick (for me at least) has been to make sure and "flatten" the image, convert to 8 bit mode, THEN save as a JPG.

Actually it all behaves like it is saving it and then when I close and reopens, I get that dialog.

That was interesting. And leads me to wonder, having killed the bug with 7.01 have they reintroduced in CS?
