Photoshop 7.01 slow to open.

Photoshop 7.01 used to open nice and quickly.
Recently Photoshop opens the main window(grey screen) then sits there for about 15 seconds doing nothing, then opens the splash screen and loads the plugin and stuff in the normal time.

There is no CPU activity in the 15 seconds. I haven’t changed and hardware or system settings(VM and Scratchdisk).
No other Adobe software has a problem; Illustrator 10,
ImageReady 7.01, Acrobat.

Tried removing and re-installed Photoshop.

Any ideas??

System: AMD 2.5Gb, 512Mb Ram, 80Gb ATA100, Xp Pro SP1.

Matt,

This sort of behaviour usually means a corrupted preferences file. An uninstall/reinstall doesn’t fix this because the prefs-file is not created during install (hence it is not removed with uninstall), but during use.

The remedy is in the FAQ on top of this forum. (How to reset prefs).

Resetting the pref file was the first thing I tried. Shift+Ctrl+Alt at program start.

do you have a network printer set as default? if so assign a local printer as default.

when it hangs, what’s on the splash screen (ie.. loading fonts, loading plugins, etc)?
