I’m wanting to put a lot of vacation photos on a CD for viewing by companions.

Is anyone aware of a "slide show" viewer application for JPG files that offers the option of displaying (superimposed upon, or right below the pictures) captions I attached using Photoshop LE?

Of course, I’d prefer freeware or shareware, but whatever, if it works well.

Thanks for any help,

WD

Hey, I would come to a newsgroup for such a request ONLY if I had not been successful with extensive unsuccessful efforts with goggle.

Hoping someone else has just happened onto what I need. The issue is the ability of the slideshow to display the captions imported from Photoshop Elements.

Just make the captions part of the image itself.

Duh.

Unless there is a way to do that without retyping the hundreds of captions I’ve already typed, that doesn’t help with the problem. I’m trying to prevent about 12 hours of additional, duplicative work. (And why be rude? There was no need to reply if you were bugged by my inquiry.)

If you have MS Powerpoint you could set up a slide show in that. It has an option for sending a viewer with the slide show, which can be saved to CD and will run and display the slide show.

Not my job to correct your errors that you now have in your project. You really should have thought about your project longer in the planning stage.

Now you have to redo work.

I do have MS PowerPoint. Thanks for a reply that offers an approach to solving a problem that evolved from one project to another.

(Looks like I’ll be re-captioning, whatever slideshow application I select. Oh, well…)

Just ignore the shithead ‘Kleee’, ‘Hecate’, ‘Voivoid’, ‘Canopus’… and various spelling variations – the devil has many names – whatever the name you’ll recognise the moronic attitude. He is an ignoramus who can’t use Photoshop to save his miserable life, he just abuses people who ask questions! There’s one (or more) in almost every newsgroup – they are the scourge of usenet, a bit like cat shit in the herb garden…

You choosing to be bothered by what people post in newsgroups is just the reaction such people look for. You feed them with your attitude. They enjoy teasing silly people like you.

Three corrections:

1. I am most certainly not ‘bothered’ by these morons, I’m just having a bit of fun with them…

2. They don’t enjoy being abused – they are used to just dishing it out…

3. I’m not ‘silly’ and do not feel ‘teased’ therefore I am not!

Apart from that, everything you said was errrr correct.

Assuming that the captions are to appear – say – below the pictures, Set up a batch action to enlarge the canvas as required.
Then you can copy / paste the appropriate caption to each picture. Sorry, I have never tried to automate the matching of bits of text to a sequence of pix.
Another batch action can flatten and re-save the result so that the captions are part of the pic, which should allow any slideshow app to work. Hopefully, knowing that you can past in existing text will allow you to sort out the details.

Good luck!
