Could you post a link to the version you have made so we can see what the problem is?

I’ll begin by assuming you have the shield graphic you linked to on a layer beneath the layer you are drawing on so you can trace it (rather than trying to draw it freehand).

This would best be created in Illustrator since it has more possibilities for manipulating paths but you may have to make do with Photoshop.

First, some overall advice, since it’s symmetrical, try to draw half of the symmetrical parts, duplicate them and flip them rather than try to draw all of it. It will look much more even than trying to draw the entire shield or ribbon.

Also, when you use the pen tool to draw the sides of the shield, try this for the long curve along the side of the shield to get a smoother line:

1. Click to make a point at the left edge of the top.
2. Click again to make a point at the midpoint where it starts to steeply curve.
3. Click again at the tip of the bottom.
4. Switch to the "convert point" tool and convert the middle point to a smooth point (click and drag down to make the curve).
5. Adjust the handles individually on the smooth point to fit the curves of the shield precisely.
