There is no need. I don’t care if you think you know who this is. It just does not matter. Changing a screen name is not spoofing you… it is just changing a name, I happened to pick one that was similar to the name you are using. Too bad if you think it is "spoofing" you. It is not.

Ok – for those of you who just tuned in. Here’s the deal.

Both of these people have been participants in the photoshop group for years now. They’re both talented and smart, only one is good and the other evil.

The evil one is Mike Cristy, aka www.artistmike.com, is very talented, and uses people in this newsgroup as psychological punching bags. He does it so well that he has a following that enjoys seeing him go to work. Mike C has a talent for hurting people where it hurts the most, and making them very angry indeed. Many people step in and foolishly wrestle with him, matching paragraphs against his cutting one liners. I know at least one person who so dreaded his attacks that she stopped participating in this group. A loss. He even starts fights between others that are very bitter.

He has been doing this for a decade or more. You’ll even occasionally see people asking openly where Mike C is, when he hasn’t shown himself for a while. It’s fair to say Mike Cristy will be remembered here far after you and I are gone.

Hecate is a wonderful talented person who posts lots of helpful and spot-on, entertaining and informative articles. Mike C has found her achilles heel, which is that she cares about her good name, and what people think about her, as well as about the people themselves. Even so, the best thing for Hecate to do is the same thing all of us should do, and can’t always: ignore or enjoy Mike C – you simply can’t fight him.

So, that’s why I said Ay Carumba. This is good and evil battling it out, comic book style. Just thought you’d like to know who the players were. BTW – in keeping with his sense of sportsmanship, for those who look closely, Mike C has left a clue. He uses – the real
Hecate is

":^) ®

The evil one is Mike Cristy, aka www.artistmike.com, is very talented, and uses people in this newsgroup as psychological punching bags.

Mike would be sure to remind you that people can only become punching bags when they allow themselves to be that. They have to play along for that to happen. "Mike" is always willing to play with people that want to play.

He does it so
well that he has a following that enjoys seeing him go to work. Mike C has a talent for hurting people where it hurts the most, and making them very angry indeed.

Just a reminder: "Mike" has no real power to make anyone feel anything. People choose to get angry, or amused, or insulted, or whatever.

He does not make them do anything.

Many people step in and foolishly wrestle with him, matching paragraphs against his cutting one liners.

That does seem to happen quite often.

I know at least one person who so
dreaded his attacks that she stopped participating in this group.

People choose to "dread" all kinds of things.

He has been doing this for a decade or more. You’ll even occasionally see people asking openly where Mike C is, when he hasn’t shown himself for a while. It’s fair to say Mike will be remembered here far after you and I are gone.

Who knows.

":^) ®

Mike C has found her achilles heel,
which is that she cares about her good name…

A reminder: It is a made up name.

":^) ®

the best thing for
Hecate to do is the same thing all of us should do, and can’t always: ignore or enjoy Mike C – you simply can’t fight him.

There is nothing to "win" thus fighting is pointless. Ignoring is something that many people do not choose to do, they actually do choose to play with "Mike".

Now enjoying "Mike" is the only rational choice. But many people are not rational.

"I like Mike"
Slogan © The Doormouse 2004

lol… most people here just don’t "get" you, Mike! :))

Janet

Uhoh…Ron just threw the door wide open to being
a MIke Christy Net Toy.

Brian Mays

Your toybox is brimming!

The Doormouse

[Mike] Are you the devil?

Brian Mays

Oh, now you’ve done it. You’ve invoked his name.

Emil Mroz

The one and only Mike C…

mezza

I’m a Mike (C.)olohic … What about you???

Dave Moon

It’s a sad man who actually TRIES to
get on the list…

Brian

Hi Mike, Isn’t it about time for your annual
posting of newsgroup users comments
about you? Absolutely one of the few things in
this group worth looking forward to.

Keith

Mike hasn’t lost the plot,
he just rewrites it as he goes.

Emil Mroz

See, Mike writes his little messages of
independence and responsibility to people
like you… but most ‘get’ the exact opposite
message, and start jumping through that hoop.

You have spent most of your time here doing
cartoons… Now you seem to need Mike for your
inspiration. Like Rubens needed women,
many of you need a Mike.

Joske

To understand the concept, you have to look
for past posts about MikeC’s "game", which he
plays with his "net toys"… it’s surreal…
like Mr Bean doing "The Matrix"…

"The Game"… it’s actually a social thing…
a phenomenon only possible in the Virtual world.

Giuseppe Carmine De Blasio

BTW, I don’t block Mike C – because his posts
are always … aimed incisively at the ego of the
previous poster. People who buy into his game
for very long – trading sentences and paragraphs
for his one liners – appear foolish.

Mike Russell

He has been doing this for a decade or more.
You’ll even occasionally see people asking openly
where Mike C is, when he hasn’t shown himself for
a while. It’s fair to say Mike C will be remembered
here far after you and I are gone.

Mike Russell

There actually is no Mike C. He is a computer
program developed in 1983 as a class project
in artificial intelligence by a unnamed student
at MIT. This now-antiquated software has taken
a life of it’s own and has infected thousands of
Web servers around the world. In 1996 a cult of
Mike C. fans attempted to further humanize the
hoax by designing a Web site, creating Mike’s
bio and adding staged photos of cult members
in disguise. The cult pre-paid the artistmike.com
hosting for 1001 years in 1999…

Dave Moon

I like Mike though, he is good at being an ass,
not just mental like the other trolls. He makes one
think a bit… It would be not all that fun around here without him

HillBilly Jack

Please stay on topic. This is a forum discussing
Artist Mike.

Yep. Asshole Mike is trying to pass himself off as me. If it gets annoying enough (i.e. affects my reputation) I’ll try reporting him to the abuse@ whatever is relevant.

Ok – for those of you who just tuned in. Here’s the deal.
Both of these people have been participants in the photoshop group for years now. They’re both talented and smart, only one is good and the other evil.

Hey Asshole Mike, your still no good at this. Still can’t fake the address properly.

The minute I get a compliant from someone about something you’ve written whilst impersonating me is the moment I start making official complaints about you. And you haven’t got many ISPs left, have you?

There is no need to.

You are jumping through hoops anyway.

hahahaha.

Your threats are funny. No one has been impersonating you. Your email address has only been used by YOU.

hahahahaha.
