Every now and again (NOW for example), I open Photoshop (CS) and all my preferences have been reset to default, my color space is not defined, my scratch disks revert to default, and my workspace reverts to it’s very annoying original state (my workspace preferneces still exist in the drop down menu, so that’s easily fixed – but everything else has to be restored manually!!) What the $%^#&?? Oh – and I get the tutorial pop-up window to boot.

Why does this happen?? It happens every couple of months or so, and it makes me insane!

Anyone else experience this little quirk???

Thanks…

The only way arround that for me is to create a seperate DVD R backup of my most
cherished progs. If you use WIN XP, the restore feature might help…however one must
consider the other changes affected. Best bet is to do a back up of entire directories. Its
a drag but a life saver.

Perhaps you could make copies of the prefrences files in each program store them in a seperate folder somewhere on your drive and whenever you have that problem drop in a copy of the backup pref?
