I recently had the misfortune of having a hard drive crash. I paid big bucks to get some of my data back. Many of my photos will not load in PS, the error message says that the pics are missing a jpeg marker. Is there any way to fix or get around these ‘markers’

Even without an HDD crash, this happens from time to time. Try opening in some other viewing program, that will allow a Save. Many are far less sensitive to various problems with JPG’s, than is PS. I have a few Ulead products, that seem to tolerate this sort of thing pretty well. I’ve got Irfanview, but have never really played with it, however, it is very highly touted around here, so you might want to get it, if you don’t have another viewer, as it’s freeware, as I recall – unfortunately no URL handy, but Google ought to spit it out. Just make sure that you Save, before you try to re-open file in PS. You might have to make a small tweak, or Save_As, if Save is greyed out.

Good luck,
Hunt
