Running Photoshop CS (upgrade edition) with WinXP Home (full edition.) Installed PSCS by inserting PS 7.0 disc into CD drive to verify eligibility for upgrade.

My problem is :
In the color settings window, under settings, there are only 3 choices.
1. Custom
2. Other (which is grayed out)
3. Photoshop CS settings 1

If I try to load other settings using the " load button " I get an error message that tells me the color settings file I’m trying to load ( US Prepress Defaults as an example )isn’t compatible with this version of Photoshop.

Can anyone shed some light on this or perhaps direct me to where I might find an answer, short of calling Adobe ?

Thanks in advance,
Ian

Ian,

It sounds as though your ICC profiles may be missing for some reason.

Start by deleting your prefs file (Details in the FAQ at the top of this Forum’s Topic List). If that doesn’t help, which it well may not, I would recommend a complete uninstall from C/Panel>Add/Remove programs,

Delete the whole of the Photoshop Folder tree and the c:\documents and settings\~username\Application Data\Adobe\Photoshop\8.0\ folder tree and re-install from the CD

Thanks for the advice Len. I assume then that the ICC profiles are part of the Photoshop CS software and not WinXP ?

I’ll try your suggestion later today then post the results.

Ian,

the ICC profiles are part of the Photoshop CS software and not WinXP ?<<

ICC profiles ship with many applications and hardware, and also with the O/S, but it sounds as though you are missing the Photoshop supplied ones.
