I now have a decent new monitor (Viewsonic) and a great printer (Epson R800). I have had pretty good success with the colors of the prints matching what I see on the screen, but the gamma is off (prints darker) no matter which gamma software I try (Adobe, WizWYG, etc.).
I would like to purchase a hardware based calibration solution. Is there any website that compares the various types and compares them with regard to value? I am what would be considered an advanced amateur, but would like to see some more accurate results from the printer/monitor combination. (Generally using either PSCS and Qimage to print from.) Thanks for any suggestions.

I’m sure if you put spider and comparison in Google you’ll get lots of hits. Meantime, I’d recommend Gretag MacBeth.

I’m sure if you put yomomma in Google you’ll get lots of hits. Meantime, I’d recommend "step off, mofo".

Thanks for the wonderfully helpful suggestion. (Why do you assume I did not try that already? This is a newsgroup for people who work with PS and image files and I was trying to get an INTELLIGENT suggestion or two.)

What you are trying to "get" is irrelevant. You paid for nothing so you are lucky to "get" anything.

He thinks they’re his personal playground. I say playground because he has the IQ of a three year old.

Each person decides how they will use a newsgroup. There is no "one" use for a newsgroup.

You really are silly if you think otherwise.

How are you going to force anyone to use this newsgroup as you think it should be used?

You can’t.

I am pleased that it bothers you so much.

Your pain is my joy.

You are assuming that all this is bothering me. On the contrary it’s a bit of light relief after work. You remember work? That was something you used to do before you became the talentless, unemployed slob you are today. I must admit to wondering why you were like this. Usually, people like you are compensating for some personal defect. Of course, I realised straight away – the Viagra didn’t work, did it?

You are assuming that all this is bothering me.

So you make threats because something does NOT bother you?

hahahahaha.

You really are funny.

On the contrary it’s a
bit of light relief after work.

I am pleased you have to go to work. It is good for people like you.

You remember work? That was something
you used to do before you became the talentless, unemployed slob you are today.

I have no need to "go to work". Projects come to me, and I take the ones that I like. Plus my web site generates a nice income.

As to being "talentless" … you are projecting.

I must admit to wondering why you were like this. Usually, people like you are compensating for some personal defect.

I enjoy goofballs like you… I play with people like you in newsgroups. It is a "sport" … hope you are having a good time. I am.

Of course,
I realised straight away – the Viagra didn’t work, did it?

Are you sharing your personal experience with a loved one?

OH? What scam are you running? It can’t be anything honest.

Hardly. I don’t do men.

You may already have tried this, or it may have been suggested further down the thread. I get fed up when the childish replies start. You should be able to tell the printer to print brighter and, when you are happy with the result, save the setting. Should not be difficult, takes a few minutes. You can set your computer to wake up with this printer driver setting, but as I use several papers I prefer to select the appropriate custom setting before I print. It then holds good until I change it or switch off.

Good luck.

OK. How about we set up a "Take a Contract Out on Mikey" fund. I’m sure there’d be lots of contributors. 😉

Abso-bloody-lutely by choice.
