Photoshop CS and 7, How do you do business cards?
2×3.5
10 on a sheet
I’d do the photographic art work in PS, then size it and Save. Since I’ve used PageMaker for years, I’d Place the artwork in the sized area 2 x 3.5, in PM and then do the text. InDesign will work well for this, but I have not played with it enough, so I fall back to PM – note to self: need to spend less time in NG’s and more with InDesign. When satisfied, just Ctrl-c, Ctrl-v, until you have filled the page (matrix of 2 x 5 in this case). Only caveat that I’d offer is if you have a background which is to print on each card, bleed it beyond the area of the card slightly. Depending on where the printing is to be done, you need to find out specs (for an outside source), or you can just print to the desktop printer. If desktop, you need to take the printable area limitations of your specific model into consideration. Avery makes a nice non -perforated business card sheet, though it might be a bit thick to feed into certain desktop units. Since my Epson can handle full bleed printing on 8.5x 11, I just need to remember to set that in its Properties.
You can do it all in PS CS, if you have a Postscript printer or RIP, but I still choose to go the two program route. For artwork (non-photographic), AI is my program of choice, then take that, pluse the PS work into PM for type and final output.
