Hi there,

This is my first post to the forum, but am looking for some advice. I am doing a photograph where the subject(a person) is clear but the background is slightly out of focus. I did accomplish this as desired except the clear subject looks almost detached from the background as though i just cut and pasted her onto the background. Does anyone have any tips or advice to make it look more like she was actually a part of the background rather than "on top of it"?? Thanks for your replies,

Tom

A few reasons for a subject not fitting in can be a) poorly cut edges, and b) the wrong lighting. For instance, the light on the subject is from the left, and the background has it from the right, or behind.

feather the selection before you blur it.

The picture all belongs together so really the lighting angles are the same. It is just I copied layers and blurrred the background slightly and then kept the subject clear. But yeah the edging does not flow. So that is really where the issue lies.
