You want to write an applicaiton in Visual Basic that searches file via keywords in thier File Info as saved in Photoshop ???

If so do this;

1. Find out what file formats the File Info is supported in, i.e. which file formats it definaly gets stored in.
2. Obtain the file format specifications for these file formats. E.g. ADOBE .PSD, would probably mean getting the technical info on .PSD file format, this could be in the Photoshop SDK (Software Development Kit).
3. Write the application to search the disk for files of your choice, i.e. .PSD and when it finds each, instruct it to search the location where the file info is stored (via info in Photoshop SDK) for keyword matches.

You can access the File Info easily using VB or VBA and scripting if using PS7 or CS. You need to explain more about what you are trying to do. Your best bet may be to check out the scripting forum – link towards top of main page.
