Hi. I’m relatively new to Photoshop, so I hope what I’m about to ask isn’t too simple. I’m running Photoshop CS2 on Windows XP.
Basically, I have a few hundred photos (1234a.jpg, 1234b.jpg, 3456a.jpg, 3456b.jpg, etc), and a spreadsheet with information about each photo. The images and data are from an image management program we use.
I would like to render the the following text on each photo:
1) Some static text
2) The image filename
3) Data from the spreadsheet.
The first two were easy (Gerald Singelmann’s FileNameAsTextLayer plugin was very helpful). I also figured out how to define variables, import a data set, and apply variables. Easy enough.
Here’s where I break down. I would like Photoshop to open a file, do the first two actions, and then say, "Hmm, this image is 1234a.jpg, which matches 1234a.jpg in the spreadsheet, so I’ll apply the dataset for 1234." Text from the spreadsheet would then be rendered onto the image, saved, and closed.
Does anyone have a suggestion about how to do this? I have a little programming experience, and could probably hack out a VB script if I had a sample to work from. I’m not married to Photoshop, so if there’s a better application to do this in, please let me know.
Thanks for your help,
Joseph
