In this photo, there is a dancer on a shinny floor, and you can see her blurred reflection on the floor. I want to extended the floor so that the reflected portion is about 3x the height it is now.

The simplest way I can think of is to stretch the reflected part. But it would look stretched.

I tried sampling a spot of the floor, and use painting tool to extend the floor. It doesn’t look like a floor at all, just a solid area of blue.

Then I copy the dancer, flip it upside down, blurr it. But it looks nothing like the existing reflection either.

Could someone suggest better methods to extend the floor?

There are two methods you could try:
1. use the clone tool, not a paint brush
2. copy part of the floor, paste it into an new layer and then drag it down. You will need to blend it by using a feathered selection and/or a layer mask.

You could try your second method but use a feathered selection (100 or so) so the blur gets increasingly more apparent! and then copy and paste the existing floor to a new layer, select and extend it down over the new upside down dress layer and adjust the opacity, that will give it the floor texture to some extent! The main problem will be the merge point between the original and the upside down layer!!
A quickly done rough copy!!
