A little more info from you would be nice.

What vs of Photoshop?
What OS?
What brand, model scanner?
How is scanner connected (usb? parallel?)
What are you scanning?
Did it ever work?
What steps are you taking to scan… ie Photoshop’s File>Import or other?

Please give us some info so that we don’t have to guess at what you are doing.

Photoshop cs

The scanner is a Fiery scanner. Not sure exact model but it is a business line printer color laser printer
connected to a workstation and shared out to user.
scanning document
worked yesterday but suddenly stopped working…user is locked down so can’t make any changes going through file-import

thanks.

The scanner is a printer?

What scan software? does it scan as "standalone"?

It’s a scanner printer combo. Think it’s about 3 years old. The workstation it goes through has it’s own proprietary software that advertises the device. The software is called fiery.

finally got it working…makes no sense why it worked though.

I had to do a runas command and have the user re-enter their credentials for the scan option to work. weird huh.

Not really.. Photoshop requires admin or power user rights to operate correctly… I had a similar incident with W2K and my scanner.. the system admin here did not want anyone having power user rights, let alone adminover their own machines, god-forbid! So what was his siolution, he allowed me to sign onto Photoshop as admin, using the admin’s p/w… he was a dangerous person!

Anyway, we have a new admin, gave us all admin rights on our own machines and restrictions on the network, and everythign works fine now.

Well, I’m glad you got it working again.
Me understanding it is a different story.
