Hi all:

I’d like to get some info regarding the font situation in PS. First off, I know how to load fonts: My Comp>Fonts>etc. And I also know how to delete them.
So much for that.

I see there are more fonts in the PS dropdown list than there are listed in Windows Fonts folder. Also, PS seems to acts independently of the Winows fonts folder – to some extent.

It would seem PS must have it’s own folder/repository for fonts but I’m unable to locate anything of the sort by going through a search or into the PS program.
Anyone shed any light on this?

Thanks to he/she that answer,

M

Thanks Hecate for your reply.

I followed the path you put down, got to the said folder and deleted all of the fonts that were there.
However, there are still some fonts that are listed in the PS fonts drop down list that are now niether in the Windows fonts folder OR the PS fonts folder.
I’m not going to beat on this thing anymore as it’s not important, but this seems to be a "weird one".

What other programs do you have, that might use fonts (especially PostScript ones)? AI, Acrobat, many word processors, all have fonts with them, though usually, as is the case with Adobe, they get placed into a common folder. You might want to do a search for common font extensions on the Web (i.e. ttf, pfm, afm, inf, etc.), and do a Seach in Windows Explorer (if on a Win machine), and see where these dudes are. I’d urge you to not delete fonts, unless you’ve made a backup, as one can never have too many fonts, just maybe too many "installed" fonts.

Hunt; thanks for the insight.
I also have Word and that could be culprit.
I’ll do the suffix search and see what happens.
You’re right about not deleting too many fonts as now the font style has changed even in my Norton Utilities program. Live & learn <g>

Thanks again, M

yes…be VERY careful while deleting fonts! I deletel a shot bunch years ago on my old machine…and MANY of my icons in photoshop, corel and other programs became quite strange looking. Oh they still worked…but they just were all messed up looking.
