For some strange reason what I see on my monitor is not what is printing out on my Epson CX5200 printer. Once I am happy with the completed photo in CS, I send it to the printer etc, however the final print is always much lighter than what is expected. I have CS set at RGB 1998. I have tried calibrating the monitor using Adobe Gamma but with out much success. I can’t understand what has happened as up until a day or so every thing was fine. The only thing different I have done is run a piece of software called `Skybot search & destroy` which was suggested to clear any dodgy tracking devices from unscrupulous people off my HDD. Is it possible this could have made some changes to my setup? If so does anyone have any suggestions please other than purchasing an external piece of calibration software.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Tell us a little about your monitor first. That might give us a clue. Next printer setup should yield a few clues, as well.

Second, Spybot S&D should not have had any effect on your monitor settings, other than possibly finding a "wallpaper" hi-jacker, or similar. For monitor/ system color/printer calibration, you should be fine.

Are you using a color profile for the printer? I have an Epson r300, and if don’t use a profile, the print stinks (in my case, way too dark).
