I accidentally uninstalled Photoshop 7.

I re-installed.

Since reinstalling, my right-click Menu in WIndowsXP Explorer no longer has a "Preview" option (to view the image using Windows Picture and Fax Viewer).

I believe I must have somehow changed the file associations during my re-install. But I cannot find a way to view and/or change them in Photoshop’s Preferences menu.

Anybody know how to do this?

I want Photoshop as the default EDITOR for Images, but I want Windows Viewer as default VIEWER.

Thanks

How does a person "accidentally" uninstall anything?

File associations are the business of Windows, not PS. A way to change the associations is through the folder options tab for the disk.

I have changed file associations lots of times.
I want Photoshop as the default EDITOR for Images, but I want Windows Viewer as default VIEWER.
I am not certain that this is possible.

By hitting the entry in the add/remove list just below the one I intended to unintstall

(Your response is appreciated. The snide tone of it is not. Fortunately, in another forum, someone who actually knew what they were talking about has provided an actual solution for me.. So your sarcasm is wasted.)

Of course they are.

Show me where in the folder Options I can associate Viewing with any graphic file.

So have I. The file was properly associated. That was now what I sought to fix.

Imagine that. You are not certain?

It is.

If you do not know, if you did not have a solution to offer, why did you respond?

I wonder why anyone would take the time to respond to a request for help, and provide none, instead attempting to offend and seem superior without any evidence supporting such attitude.

I sincerely hope should the occasion arise when you are in need of assistance on any matter that you are met with more sincere and concrete responses than you have provided here.

Fortunately I found a person interested in providing assistance, not derision. My problem is fixed. Yours is not.

I don’t believe Windows has a defined ‘View’ action, so there is probably directly not the capability to add "View" to the menu … but you *can* add additional entries for

Open with SlowView
Open with IrfanView

and so forth … so why don’t you just add an entry for

View with Xyyy

And assign your program associations that way. It will mean that you would ‘Right Click’ on the file name, and then look through the list of options to find the ‘View with Xyyy’ option … but what the heck …

I did that a **long** time ago on all of my systems.

Click on an image to select it
Hold down the shift key and right click on the image.
On the Dropdown Menu, select "Open With"
On the next dropdown menu, select Windows Media Player.
Check the box that says:
"Always use this program to open images of this type" Then whenever you double click on an image, it will open in Windows Media Player.
When you want to edit an image, open it from Photoshop.
File > Open…..
