Hi, thanks for taking the time to read this and hopefully help with one or more of these questions.

1. I am considering getting an iMac dual core. Can I simply get Adobe to send me a new set of disks in exchange for my current CS2 upgrade and version 6 disks?

2. What are the upgrade specs that i can get on iMac, I need a lot of disk space and I want dual monitors?

3. Is it worth it?

thanks

Gary

I believe you’ll be able to get some sort of deal short of repurchasing. I did when I went the other direction years ago. Adobe offers a cross-grade, which is an upgrade that goes to a second platform.

iMac’s generally accept the same hardware for upgrade as windows systems, so that will not be an issue.

3. Is it worth it?

Heck yeah.

While you don’t specifically say, I assume that you are talking about switching from Windows to the Mac. I made this switch a couple of PS versions ago and Adobe simply sent me the full Mac version in exchange for an agreement that I would not be using the Windows version any further. They did verify that I was a registered user. This was done at no cost to me. If you don’t find the information on their web site give them a call.

Check out Apple’s web site for the upgrade specs.

3. Is it worth it?
If the dual core is an upgrade from the processor that you currently use and you like the Mac operating system then it is worth it!

thanks

I would wait. Adobe has stated that CS2 on the dual-core Mac platform will suffer a performance degradation because it must operate through an emulation interface. Exactly what degree of the penalty is unstated. It will remain this way until Adobe upgrades the program code, which is still under way.
