Try shift-tab instead and define a shortcut to get rid of the toolbox if you don’t like it or use tab and define a shortcut to show the status bar.
I forgot to mention that the same applies to the little control panel at the top that gives the various options for each of the tools in the tools palette. Again, this should never go away, or
at least be dismissed independently of the other palettes, just as described by the status bar in the previous message.
I work in fullscreen mode often, and switch between tools using the single-letter mnemonics: O for dodge/tool brush, c for crop, etc. I can’t alter brush sizes or other options in each tool with the palettes gone, and I don’t want to have to keep toggling it back and forth just to get access. The status bar and the tool control panel do not take up enough screen real estate to need to dispose of them as much as the others.
Try shift-tab instead and define a shortcut to get rid of the toolbox if you don’t like it or use tab and define a shortcut to show the status bar.
If that’s possible, can I define a shortcut to do what TAB does now, but leave the status bar? As it is, I can’t figure out a way to shortcut a way to toggle only the status bar.
(BTW, I’d also like to reference "shortcuts" from an action. possible?)
I don’t think you can simply define a shortcut to hide all palettes and leave the status bar. You could do it through an action. Simplest way though, if you also want to keep the options bar visible as well would be to create a simple action to toggle the status bar and options bar and define a key for that. Then tab and that key would get you what you want.
