a good sized layout

I was making a new layout for my website and i made it 800px by 450px. when i looked at it on internet explorer..it looked blurry…what’s good size to make your layout? here’s the picture:

Also, what does it mean on when people put 1024×768 resolutions as requirement on their site? Is that like a requirement for viewers t have in order to view have a better view on their page

Also, what does it mean on when people put 1024×768 resolutions as a requirement on their site? Is that like a requirement for viewers to have in order to view have a better view on their page?

Size has nothing to do with sharpness… Unless you are over adjusting it and introducing blurriness that way. even then it is generally worse making bigger rather than smaller.

Nothing except people locked in the past on small moniters may have to scroll vertically also.

They they have designed their webpage with a width around 1024, and that they probably don’t know much about the web as a medium.
