Dear Adobe,
It appears that the Linux community has published a web page not only condoning the policy of pirating your application Dreamweaver 8 but also
publishing a step by step list of instructions. Additionally a Linux fanatic who goes by the name Roy Schestowitz has been blasting the link
to the instructions all over USENET although it appears that he is not the author of the blog describing the piracy of Dreamweaver 8.

Here is the url for the blog
http://blog.publicidadpixelada.com/how-to-dreamweaver-8-in-u buntu-in-10- easy-steps/

In case the link does not work you can find it here

Here is Mr.Schestowitz’s post to USENET

As a long time Adobe paying customer I find it appalling that Linux users
have the audacity to think they don’t have to pay for commercial software.
Thank you for your consideration in this matter.

Dear Adobe,

It appears that asstroturfer posing as micoshaft employees are engaged in net abuse through posting with multiple
identities trying to attack linux advocates, particularly frequent contributors like Roy Schestowitz.
You may google newsgroup comp.os.linux.advocacy any time and see the league of windope idiots, name shifting asstroturfers and trolls lined up trying to attack Roy, and not be
taken in by the asstroturfers and their campaign.

Instead if I were you, I would pass it on to the local
police to trace the money route back to the companies
that paid for these asstroturfing services.
Its understood that in some cases, these monies may have been stolen / diverted through charities in order to fund asstroturfing activities so as to hide donor names.

Will you please shove their posts up their ass and send them packing. Its posts like these from windope asstrotufers that make me want to delete windopes from all PCs and simply
switch to GNU/Linux.

There’s nothing in that post about piracy. There are, however, instructions on how to install Dreamweaver under windows then under Linux.

Tell me, did the article give you any reason to think that he didn’t have a legitimate copy?

Just because he never addressed the issue of licensing doesn’t mean he’s illegally copying software. More likely, he’s gotten tired of dual booting.

I guess you trolls are just getting desperate to make Linux users look like most Windows users are.

As a long time paying Linux customer I find it appalling that you would imply that all Linux users are interested in pirating Adobe software. I, myself have never used any version of Adobe photoshop, and have no need or inclination to do so. I find that, in general, I don’t have much luck with WINE software on Linux, and the Adobe products won’t run without it. End of story.

I’m more than happy with GIMP, though I might be interested in buying a Linux version of photoshop if it were offered.

Just trying to point out that Linux users have the tools they need already, hence most are really not interested in running MS software, let alone in pirating it.

Nailed it, I am not interested in any Adobe products. Native (free) applications foresee in my needs. I can proudly say that I have no Illigal programs on my PC (at all).

I don’t normally stoop to this kind of language on Usenet, but your case seems to merit it: Fuck off.

wonder whether you have noticed that

But it does seem a little silly for a University CS student to be advertising blatant piracy of a commercial product. Dreamweaver is not governed by the GPL – it is not free. What are the Linux equivalents? I have used Nvu but its buggy as hell and not very good at dealing with remote links.

It’s just plain stupid for anyone, Linux user or not, to give publicity to sites like that.
Why feed them?
And why even associate your name with one?
IMHO it gives the Linux commuunity a black eye by writing How-To’s on running Windows programs under Linux when they require a cracked file.

vi work fine for me and has worked fine since the old good days with HTML 1.0 when I begun to make some web pages. If you want something more fancy you can try with emacs. 🙂

Really? Where does it say in that article to *steal* or *illegally copy* the software?

The article is about running that software under WinE under Linux. To facilitate that one needs to crack the software. The use is still legal IF one has a license for it.
