The other day I had to create a clipping path around a black suitcase that had been photographed with a dark shadow along the bottom edge and I could not see the edge of the suitcase. In the past have used various means to be able to distinguish the shape of an object but the other day I just duped the background layer, used the shadow/ highlight adjustment on the dupe layer was able to clearly see the edge of the suitcase, finish the clipping path, deleted the dupe layer and saved the eps file. Sounds like a great idea to me, Denis. If it’s a color photo, I also suggest toggling the channels to see if there is a color channel with more contrast in the required area. It’s really quick and easy to Command-1,2,3 to toggle through them (or Control on the PC).

Cheers!

Yup thats it or you could use curves,

heres another tip ever tried matching two overlaping images e.g top and bottom of a web page? select ‘difference’ colour mode then move it around until it turns 100% black, perfect match
