Hi,

I am running Photoshop CS and when I open up a JPEG and alt-click on the clone stamp tool or healing tool nothing happens to my image. I just click to sample and then when I go to apply it I get no response (brush does nothing).

Has anyone had this before? Any ideas as to why it’s happening? Is it something in my pref’s?

Any help would be greatly appreciated big time.

If I read your post correctly, the steps should be click on the Clone Tool, then Alt-click to set the sample point, then paint with the Clone Tool. Check the Brush size and type, plus the Blending Mode that the Clone Tool is set to in its Options Palette (at the top of your screen by default, but maybe moved elsewhere). I could be that if I mis-read your post, and you are Alt-clicking to set the sample point, not Alt-clicking the Tool, your Brush is too small to see at the magnification you are viewing, or the Blending Mode is set to something other than Normal. Also check Opacity and Flow.

Hope this helps,

Hi – Hunt is usually spot-on with these the only other thing that springs to mind is:

remember that the clone needs the source file to be active and selected (highlighted in blue and with an "eye")
then after selecting the source point the destination image needs to be active and selected (highlighted in blue with an "eye")

happy cloninh
