a question about fill’s

hello,

i have a photograph of my car which im going to respray in the next month or so, but, i want to check it out in PS first, see what colors look good. How can i fill the area with it blending to the contours of the car, at the moment all i seem to be able to do is either fill the whole section and reduce the opacity to make it look like its blending, but then i lose the color i want to look at.
sorry for the basic question,

Try playing with different layer opacity effects.
Try ‘Color’ or ‘Multiply’ for instance… this should give you something like what you are seeking…
