Dear Experienced PhotoShopUsers,

I find the magnetic lasso to be a very interesting too, however, I do have one question. Is it possible to back up if you’ve "missed a spot"? Once the object is selected and you find you didn’t get it all, can you (as in CorelDraw), click on the path, create a node and edit? I don’t seem to be able to find such a function.

TIA,

Kelly Kirsch

I usually go back over the selection in a more magnified state with regular laso to fix anything missed.

Hiya Kelly

If the greeting in your message includes moi = I am very pleased indeed!

I echo the point made in a previous reply

The magnetic lasso is brilliant but, like all tools, there is wisdom in its application

There is also the extract tool and while not too familiar with it I bear it in mind for when needs must …

You can ‘back up’ as you are drawing, simple hit the delete key and you will go backwards a step. You can click to make your own points at any time with the magnetic lasso if you find you need more control at certain points where the edge between foreground and background isn’t so clearly defined.
Another tip, if you want more accuracy, lasso rough as you like and then make a path from your selection which you can then edit with total control using the pen or direct selection tools,

Thank you all for taking the time to share your tips. I have been experimenting and find each to have merit.

As a rule, I use Corel Draw, but I find ACS control of color and image editing far superior to PhotoPaint.

Again, thanks,
