I was attempting to duplicate the edging as on this image. I thought I used the puzzle style. But just couldn’t duplicate it. Wound up with something like a burlap texture.

Well that’s of no use. Don’t have and never have had alien skin. Still want to try and duplicate that texture. turn it into a help file for the next time I want it..

Filter>Texture>Craquelure then blur inside a feathered rectangle?

I believe it’s just the Craquelure filter. It seems to have been applied inside of a selection somewhat smaller than the rectangle that has been inverted. No blur or feather appears to have been applied since there is a pretty hard edge (esp. visible in the upper right hand corner).

Good call on the filter. It’s definitely craquelure with the spacing and depth settings modified from the default.
