Hi,

I’m trying to edit an hdr image with CS2 but I cannot do much really. Impossible to create a layer, most of the menu are grayed… Is it the case the photoshop CS2 only support a small subset of what photoshop usualy offer?

One of the simplest thing to do with an hdr image is to play with the tonemap. I tried to use the hdr conversion stuff but I cannot get the curve to do anything…

Am I missing something here? Or do I really have to switch to hdrshop?

Many filters have not been converted to work with anything greater than 8-bit mode.

Adobe’s HDR is highly simplified, possibly to test the waters, or it may really be a half-witted implementation. If you can manage the complexity HDRSHOP is a good thing.

The curve only works with the ‘Local Adaptation’ option.

According to Chris Cox at Adobe the HDR support is very experimental. Add to that that things like Levels, etc. at least according to him would be near impossible to implement for HDR because if the large amount of data and bit depth. If you need something better look for Easy HDR or one of the other programs. The other programs also have the ability to take images created from a single RAW and combine them that is something Adobe doesn’t allow.
