Transparent GIF fails to use matte color

When saving GIFs with a transparent background matte color always results in white. Any suggestions?

Choose another matte color in the Save for Web dialog?

I do, but it always results in white, giving me halos. Guess I’ll have to reintstall PS

You have to save as GIF 89 i think, or what ever the later version is.
