Just learning about batch processing. I recorded all my actions. Works fine.

When I run the automate list it runs through and then at the end it pops up with the save file and wants me to save the file as a .psd. How do I get it to run through an image and just save it as a jpg?

Do I have to save it in the actions as a jpeg? (I tried that but it always pops up with the save .psd thing.)

Thanks for any help.

If, by chance, you were trying to save a layered file, then Photoshop would obviously want to save as a psd file!

You really should not save the original files in case your actions don’t work out.

I would suggest that while recording your action…

Open a file that you want to have automated tasks applied to in PS.
1) Hit the record button in the Actions pallette to start your
sequence.
2) Complete the tasks you want to peform.
3) Then, before stopping your recording session, go to "File" -> "Save" or "Save for Web" (you can also use your shortcut keys instead)
4) Then close the original file without saving.
5) Stop recording.

In essence, you want to open the file. Start recording. Perform actions. Save output as jpg. Close file. Stop recording. Then when you run the batch, you can set up where the files are coming from, and then also where you want the output files to go to.

Hope this helps.

open up the automate bottom window
there is a place to say what folder to save in
always make a new folder
never save over originals you will regret it later I promise) as you have been told a layered file cannot save as jpg, use save for web or make flatten one of the action steps
using save for web will also remove spaces from the file names (very important, if the files have spaces or unusable characters like "&" you will not be able to upload them)
