Hi all,

I’ve just upgraded from Adobe Photodeluxe 3.1 to Photoshop CS after Photodeluxe misbehaved with Windows XP. There was an Instant Fix tool in Photodeluxe – does anyone know if Photoshop has this tool or similar?

Thanks for any help,

Matt.

You buy the most powerful image manipulation program in the universe and want Instant Fix?

Under Image Adjustments, CS has Auto Levels/Contrast/Color together with Shadow/Highlight but why don’t you decide what’s wrong with your image and fix it yourself. That way the image looks like you want it to rather than what CS thinks it should look like.

I don’t think Instant anything is really the way to go – better to explore CS and prepare to be amazed at what it’ll do. Or am I missing the point?

Hi Matt,

Instant fix is similar to Photoshop’s Auto Levels command. This command works best if your brightest object is pure white. If you don’t like the colors, try Auto Contrast instead. Both of these commands are located under the Image>Adjust menu.

There are any number of other commands that will help you to improve your images: Unsharp Mask, Hue/Sat, Variations, Selective Color, and others. The real trick is to keep trying different tools as your expertise grows, rather than get stuck in the same routine, or even the same color space.

I, and many others, are big fans of Image>Adjust>Curves. After you’ve explored the automated tools in Photoshop, I hope you’ll delve into curves. Although curves take some skill to use, this is where the real quality lies. —

Ho Stoat how yah do’in?

I don know if this helps but …

PS is really think dependent MS Picture It (and many programs like it) is a way to delegate those thought processes to a click on a button

Your choice is your choice – I will respect it But PS is a way to take control of multiple variables

If you wish to reduce the variables in a program a less expensive one may do. In PS you may create an action (or so I understand) that will apply particular settings to images at the cost of a click
