nobody in the illustrator group answered this, so i’m hoping someone over here will know.

I use my Wacom tablet and pen all the time in Photoshop. Corel Draw has a pressure sensitive "pen tool" I can use with it too.

However I cant find any tools in Illustrator 10, that respond to the pressure sensitive pen and tablet. The paint brush sort of works but wont draw very "Thick" lines.

What am i missing?

Hi There,

You need to select the brush in the brushes pallet and then click on the pallet menu arrow at the top right of the pallet. You then select "Brush Options" from the menu.

At the bottom of the dialogue next to the "Diameter" option, select "pressure" from the drop down list and then set the "Variation" to the same size as the diameter of the brush.

You will now be able to get pressure sensitive lines up to the maximum diameter of the brush preset. So if you have a preset of 20 points, you will be able to draw lines upto 20 points depending on the amount of pressure you exert on the pen.

You can alter these settings for any of the standard brush presets or any brushes you create yourself.

Hope this helps

as i said in response to a similar [the same?] query on the Illy group, the ‘pressure sensitve options in Illustrator are rubbish. Spare yourself the pain and don’t bother. Use something more responsive such as Flash…. that’s a little closer to drawing than Illustrator will ever be
