Adobe wants you to join the Adobe Solutions Network (ASN) before you get access to the latest version of the SDK. This costs about 200 dollars per year. If you are working for a non profit or non commercial organization, they may allow you to join ASN for free.

Another way to get access to the SDK is via the Photoshop 6.0 disk, which has an earlier version of the SDK.

Your earlier question of how to add a new menu to Photoshop is not addressed in the SDK. This is a non-standard technique that I would probably implement by direct use of the Windows API. If the menu items implement new commands, this would need to be combined with hooking the messages generated by that menu.

Well I was able to download the Basic CS2 SDK from adobe.com for free, earlier this year. Somehow.

To complete the story, though, it’s of no use to me at all. I needed the "Advanced" SDK for the project in question (a File Format plugin that might take advantage of some CS2 features) and negotiations for that part of the kit have produced no fruit to date.

You can add menu items to Adobe Bridge with JavaScript scripting. You can then have your script target Photoshop.

I don’t like putting my name on mailing lists like that. I just used bugmenot (there is a firefox extension, or you can goto bugmenot.com), and I was able to easily download the SDK shortly after seeing this thread…

But I didn’t tell you that. 😉
