Applying Color to parts of a B&W Picture

I have a color picture of my daughter in bluejean overalls, I would like the picture to be black and white, but I also would like to retain a light blue tone on the jeans only. What would be the best method / effect to accomplish this in PS 6.0? Thanks, Jim

If you have access to the Adobe Expert Center, you’ll find a fine tutorial in accomplish exactly that.

make a copy layer. desaturate it.

1) paint over the jeans w/ the brush in color mode/

or

2) select the pants with your fav selection method. A combination of lasso and quick mask works quite well. Use Image> Hue/Sat. check the colorize box.
