I am working on a file that requires adding texts to an image. I am told that a software will take whatever I do to the text and apply the same efftects to other texts they substituted from a database.

Has anyone done this kind of work before? I am very unsure about how to go about it. Basically, a client give my client a database of names etc. I design a photoshop image for them and put some initial text on. But I can "add effects" etc to make the text part of the image – such as making the text looks like stitching on a blanket. I then place this image onto an InDesign file.

When my client gets this, they can hook it up to the database and every name on the database will appear just like the ones I have initially done, i.e. looks like stitching (the effects are applied etc).

The only way I have been putting effects on texts is using the text mask tool. but it turns the text into a mask, so I am not sure how this can work.

Can someone give me some advice? I need to get this file out and currently, I have no clue if I am doing the right thing!

Thanks.
