If anyone has any idea what this problem is and how to fix it I would be so appreciative..

I use fonts very heavily in PhotoShop. Today after I was almost through with the project I was doing, I saw a font I have I never used called Lotus Postal Code which has about 10 keys for fonts that look like bar codes. I saw this in Font Explorer. I went back to PhotoShop and in Type Tool (which I had been using all night), typed out some of the correct alt+ numbers and then clicked on this Lotus font….but what appeared in the window were numbers of a different font. This font turned out to be the only one that shows up in the Type Tool window no matter which of my 600 or so fonts I click on. It is useless to me and I have to transport to Paint program which is not nearly as good. The font (and I am not sure I had it before, it is after all a dull font) that shows up overtime no matter what (I turned everything off and on, etc.) makes PhotoShop useless for me in terms of text is called monotype.com, which is an odd name for a font.

I need to fix this or else I must reinstall PhotoShop and lose some stuff…..settings..

What is going on? Anyone know? I always get the weirdest problems, once there was a file that inside it was my entire computer branches and if you went inside and found this file and went inside the entire computer branching was inside and on and on without end…though this was all an illusion, it made finding files impossible unless they were before the search hit that file and got completely lost inside it never stopping on its own. If the file you were looking for was before the search hit the bad file, and you didn’t stop it it would claim to locate an infinite number of that file….any of these files would open as the file…If you clicked on the folder where all this was happening inside, the number ion the Properties window that shows the size of file would be moving fast going and going and going way past the number of GB my computer has capacity for…

I never figured it out, it may have been a virus. Eventually it went away. Once I had a virus which my anti-virus would eradicate but it was always still there…somehow it was located in those Temporary File folders you find in Windows folder. I didn’t see it there but after I deleted these folders it was amongst the hundreds or thousands of ghost files (that add up to MBs) in the Trash Bin..

Anyway this one is the worst because I use PhotoShop all the time and now can’t…

Can anyone help?

Thanks,
fred Fep

What’s your OS? I would do a very thorough virus and malware scan. And focus more on security. Firewall up and all that?
