Hi Burton

Thanks for the reply. It’s just i’m getting so frustrated trying all the demos and stuff and trying to learn everything at once. I’d love one good package to run with, like encore dvd.

I noticed nero v6.0 is coming out on 18th july and has a multi featured dvd suite. fingers crossed for that.

I can see digital wedding photography going this direction and I want to be as much in the forefront before the laggers hop on board.

Anyway, Burton, thanks for now

Regards

Mark

Take a look at Ulead DVD MovieFactory 2.

It can create slideshows with music: Digital Camera friendly – Create DVD/VCD photo
slideshows, complete with music, from still images taken with a digital camera.

Dave,
I’ve used the demo to create a Super VCD that plays on my $50 Mintec DVD player. It also allow you to trim VOB files when writing to disc. I also made a Super VCD on a CD-RW disk. Pretty neat. I’m thinking of buying the Sony DVD writer and this software.

Mark,

A 20 megabyte still is way too large for a DVD-sized TV screen frame, which has only 720×480 pixels.

Mark,

I’ve only used it to create Super VCD and a mini-DVD. Haven’t tried the slide show. Most of the newer DVD players will ready jpg files and play them as a slideshow. You don’t need to use any other software. The $50 Mintec DVD player that I mentioned is a PC based DVD player and can read files from folders on a CD. Some of the more sophisicated players may not do this. Take a CD with your photos and put it in your player and see if it will do a slideshow. Your user manual for your player should say if it does this.

Guys

Burton, I know the filesize is too big, i’m testing the water. I have a thread also in the feature requests to try and stir the pot. I see NO reason for Adobe not to impliment this in Photoshop/IR via Plugins. Maybe they are greedy by introducing ENCORE DVD to suppliment the DVD game.

Larry, I wasn’t aware that DVD player came with a slideshow shift but even if they do, i’m looking to do this professionally. My wife and I have a very successful wedding photography business going in Northern Ireland and I want to be among the forerunners to introduce Weddings onto DVD with the appearance of video but with menus and the occasional burst of video included. I also want it when the DVD is put in they don’t have to worry about selecting if their DVD can play slideshows

That’s why it’s important to get it right 1st time and I know Adobe have the ability bur I don’t want to give them $600 for the finding out it’s not what I need. That’s why I ask the questions, get people into debate, keep the post alive and top of the list to keep the pot boiling.

I know Adobe are dying to get into this market with a vengance after buying "Cool Edit" but certainly we have the ability to tell them what we want and dictate the outcome.

They obviously have their own ideas,(and more power to them for pushing forward) but if we tell them what we do and don’t want, they WILL listen

Again, for speeches and parties I accept Pay Pal donations for the long winded.

Regards

Mark,

My wife and I have a very successful wedding photography business going in Northern Ireland and I want to be among the forerunners to introduce Weddings onto DVD with the appearance of video but with menus and the occasional burst of video included. I also want it when the DVD is put in they don’t have to worry about selecting if their DVD can play slideshows.

A lot of weddings have full video coverage and the edited video is usually delivered on VHS cartridges, although there is a trend toward optional DVD delivery because DVD players are becoming more common. I think your idea is good to make a multimedia DVD production of the wedding, including video and stills. Just don’t forget the soundtrack.

Wedding videographers usually use off-camera microphones to capture quality sound of the wedding vows, as well as any special music or vocal solos. On-camera microphones are completely inadequate for professional videography. Professional video coverage frequently uses more than one video camera so that in the editing stage you can switch to various viewpoints.

You need good video editing software to edit both the video tracks and the sound tracks. My amateur DV video footage frequently has more sound problems than video problems. I have Sonic Foundry’s Noise Reduction 2 to help with the more difficult sound problems. I use Sonic Foundry’s Vegas video editor.

I commented that large JPEGs are not needed in DVD video, and they aren’t. However, Vegas lets you use a large image if you wish by panning and scanning (in software) over it. It is also ideal for slide shows and, as you suggested, mixing video with stills.

Burton.

Thanks for that good insite. I do have a sound backgroud from my youth when I had long hair and could play a guitar on a regular basis so amazingly I over looked this aspect. It is also a brilliant idea to combine a musical track AND have the ceremonial noise over the top.

Thanks for adding to my misery but in a class way. I love it.

I’m hoping Encore DVD can sort this for me. BTW Nero are introducing V6 if I haven’t already said and they are going hell for leather with DVD authoring

I LOVE competition, Don’t you?
