WHEN I OPEN AN IMAGE AND TRY TO CROP, THE TOOL GOES OUT OF THE BOX AND I CANNOT FILL THE FRAME TO CROP THE IMAGE TO THE EXTENT THAT I WANT.
I HAVE REMOVED P 7 AND RELOADED AND STILL HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. DOES PREFERENCES HAVE AN EFFECT? I USE WIN 2000 PROFESSIONAL.

Hi Trevor,

Your saved preferences may well need to be reset…it’s odd how many peculiar problems are seemingly fixed by a reset of the preferences.

I’m not sure that I understand your problem though. Are you saying that when you select the Crop tool from the toolbox, you never have a cursor visible to use for defining the starting corner of the crop marquee? Or, is it that you do have the cursor, but it disappears outside the boundaries of the image after you’ve clicked to define the starting corner? If the former, I’m not sure what would be wrong, but for the latter I’d suggest you check the Options bar to see if you’ve got a preset crop size specified that is larger than the image you’re working with. Perhaps that even applies to either situation I described. If all looks well in the Options bar, then try resetting your preferences.

For what it’s worth, I encourage you to turn off the Caps Lock key when posting messages, before someone else accuses you of what is considered the forum-equivalent of shouting. Some claim use of all caps to be rude, but I simply suggest that using mixed case instead will aid the readability of your messages.

Regards,

Daryl
