what is the best, cleanest way to install pshop cs?

have version 7, and i have a test computer with 7.0.1

do i uninstall all first, then install? (or is that not possible b/c it’s an upgrade?)

or is it better to have 7.0.1 first, then install cs?

looking for the smoothest transition possible.

Doesnt matter.

Even though it’s an ‘upgrade’, CS is a full stand alone install – it does nothing with the older version of Photoshop.

If you already have 7 on your machine, CS will go on faster because you don’t have to dig out your old 7.0 CD to prove that you qualify for the upgrade. Some things to keep in mind when you upgrade though:

CS has to be "activated" (if you are running on Windows) and Adobe will only allow you to install on one desktop and one laptop. (On a Windows machine its only compatible with 2000 and XP.)

It’s generally a good idea to keep 7 on your machine. CS takes much more memory than 7, and if you work with very large files it can be much slower.

Hope this helps,

Mike

Nina,

When you install CS, if there isn’t an existing Photoshop version on your machine it will ask you to insert the previous version CD for verification of eligibility for the upgrade.

If there IS a previous version present, that step will be avoided and PSCS will be installed to its own new folder.

Once you are happy and confident with the new version, you can uninstall your previous version.

Just an addition to the others. If you do install you should say no to uninstalling shared files.
