Hi folks – Using Photoshop 6, I erased the entire background of a friend of mine and I’m importing it into CorelDRAW10 for use on his web site. How do I separate the white background ‘box’ from his image so I can put my own background behind him? Should I have used the loop to capture his image in the first place? I’m stumped here and am on a deadline. Please help! Billy

Hi Billy

Photoshop’s layer mask will put your background behind the image of your friend.

Do your image in Photoshop, make a selection of the image by whatever means you use > Select > Inverse > Copy. Go to CoreDRAW >Paste and bring to size.

Do your background, import it into CorelDRAW and bring to size, and then Select>Arrange>Order>To Back.

That’s assuming you must end up in CorelDRAW. I don’t know why you aren’t doing the entire thing in Photoshop.

I suspect you did NOT make Background into a layer or you would have transparency, not white. If you can, double-click on Background in the Layers palette to make it a layer. Select the white with the Magic Wand set to Contiguous and delete or mask. Paste the new background into the file and drag its layer below the other layer in the Layers palette. File>Save for Web. No need to use Corel.
