Hi

Anyone can basically create a scene where you take a picture a with a pretty straight horizontal line (eg distance löadscape), copy it to a new layer and then flip it vertically and use various effects to create a water reflection.

I would like to add a boat between me and the landscape and include that in a realistic way in the waterreflection.

Another example would be to take a picture of a forrest and try to flood the ground. Creating water reflection among the trees seems to be an impossible task for me.

I’m looking for a realistic result. I have tried to just take the boat and just flip that vertically in it’s own layer but that’s not satisfying. First of all none of the blending modes give me a good result plus that the boat should also block the relection of the landscape in the background.

Would really appriciate any pointer on how to tackle this

Hi,
I decided to take a shot at it. After reading Mike’s reply I realize this is not really what you had in mind but maybe you can find something useful in it. I could have done better if I wasn’t in such a hurry. You can use the Slideshow and follow along with the captions here:

Go towww.flamingpear.comand download their free demo version of the Flood plugin. That alone may do what you want.

Thank you Mike!

That is exactly what i want to do… and probably what I would go for if I did not have this urge to actually do it without third party stuff. I want to learn how to do this myself. I got very inspired by this Displacement Map Tutorial to make realistic reflections: http://photoshopcontest.com/tutorials/26/displacement-water. html and now of course I want to take the next step.

So, any hands-on pointers are still welcome.
