Does anyone know what version of DirectX v7.01 uses? Is the correct version loaded along with the software install or do you have to upgrade DirectX manually yourself?

As far As I know Photoshop 7.x doesn’t require DirectX. Some of the other Adobe products do. Frankly, I don’t think it does though. Otherwise I believe I or someone else here would have run into it .

But you can be assured that only a very bad program will install if it needs DirectX ver. what ever and your system doesn’t have it. Most reasonably good applications will install/update the required version or at least ask for it as part of the install. If you are real concerned you can just go ahead and download DirectX 9.x and be done with it.

In all versions of Photoshop from v2, I’ve never had any message during install regarding DirectX. Now, it could well be that I’ve always had the latest DX, so it was moot, but I’d think I’d have seen it by now, with all the major and minor upgrades on a dozen systems.

Yes it is. That’s why I was in complete agreement with you and added the history back to v2.
