using clone tool

Running into problems that the clone will not work., anyone with ideas why this maybe happening.
It was working for a while then all of a sudden it will not clone. no errors or anything. all other tools work fine but the clone tool..

Dump your preferences manually or press CTRL+SHFT+ALT (which also dumps the prefs) during Photoshop booting.

Set the transparency to 100%, and the mode to Normal.

thanks for the info, but have done that, first thing I try to do.CTRL+SHFT+ALT to reset.
Set transparency to 100% and the mode to Normal check and tried, but still does not work.
Will look at a re-install of CS. and see.
