All of a sudden, when starting photoshop (all versions on my Win2K) I got the message "Photoshop.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows. You will need to restart the program. An error log is being created"
After trying everything that was suggested in the techinical support area, the only suggestion that worked was to simply log in with a different account on the same computer. The support document states that the cause might be the user account is damaged. I am not really convinced that this is the case as everything else works including Imageready. It’s also a real hassle to user a different user account as I have so many applications configured for the original user account already.
I appreciate any insights into this problem.

Have you reset your preferences? (Instructions for this are in the FAQ). That might help.

Yes, that was the very first one to try. I tried almost everything, deleting all of photoshop’s related files and directories on the machine. Uninstalled and reinstall photoshop. The only thing that I can think of is some stupid value in the Registry but I’ve gone through the whole thing and just didn’t see anything. Creating a new user account is at the bottom of the FAQ and that works but it’s a real pain.

Was this problem ever resolved?

there’s a different set of prefrences for each user. if creating a new user account solved the problem, then deleting the prefrences for the old user would also solve the problem.
