Adobe Gamma and ATI Radeon 9800 Pro drivers

Just a thought, not sure if anyone will read this since it is not the latest thread. I’ve used adobe gamma earlier and it worked when using the sliders (rgb). I’ve not updated any graphic drivers, and not so long ago I tried adjusting adobe gamma again. This time it did not work. One thing I do know for sure is that it is not driver related. But after all we are talking about computers here, and they can at times be very stubborn.

I have the same problem as well. I’m running a Radeon 9000 Pro on Windows XP, SP1. I upgraded from Catalyst v2.2 (no problems with Adobe Gamma) to Catalyst v4.3 (dated 3/10/04) and the Adobe Gamma slider didn’t function. ATI says they’re not aware of any compatibility problem and weren’t much help. I tried reverting to Catalyst v4.2 (dated 2/12/04) and still had the same problem. When I loaded Catalyst v4.1 (dated 1/19/04) I regained the normal functioning of Adobe Gamma.

Going to v4.1 may be an option and it’s fairly current.

I’m getting some crashes (but no gamma problems) with the new catalyst sw. (ati aiw 9700 pro). I’m rolling back until a new version comes out.

I also recently updated my catalyst drivers to 4.3 and suddenly I noticed that I had lost control. I will roll back tonight and see what happens. It is definatly a driver related problem as it worked fine until I updated.

There is an update posted on the ATI web site that fixes the drivers.

When ATI first admitted that they’d "broken" Adobe Gamma, they said that it was "by design." I suspect that they got flooded with complaints about this, and they’ve now said that a future driver release will fix the issue.
