Help! I had a hard drive problem, then restored my PhotoShop 5.5. Now file->import and file->Save as Web Page are grayed out.

You may want to do a full install from your original disks. I think the import uses filters or plugins that you have not restored. I assume you mean Save for Web, not Save as Web Page.

Don, that was quick, and I aprreciate your help! You’re right, it’s "Save for Web".

But the reason I have thi problem is that I tried to restoer from an E (backup) drive because my CD is long gone (it was damaged).

Any other thoughts?

Dan

Hopefully you registered your software with Adobe. Otherwise I think you will be out of luck. If you did, call customer service and they can help you.

Don, customer service won’t do squat. My rev 5.5 is too old (it is regiatered). They will sell me the rev 8.0 upgrade ($189), and have referred me to this site and their own e-mail site, where I’m waiting for an answer. I have also contacted the backup vendor, to learn how to restore fully and propoerly. Many thanks.

realizing you may not NEED it, you could do worse than upgrading to version 8 (cs) for little more than the standard upgrade price (I assume that includes shipping). I paid 169 for mine (pre shipping).

w/o the original disk, that’s probably going to be your best bet. Just count yourself lucky that you DID register! I don’t understand people who don’t register a 600+ dollar application for just this type of emergency.

Dave, I still have an outside shot at somehow restoring from my backup disk, if the backup company comes through. Thanks.

cool. just keep in mind that adobe’s policy is to charge the regular upgrade price when something like this happens and you’re "on file". pretty cool policy if you ask me. you’d be jumping what, 3 versions w/o having to buy all the versions in between. (Some great improvement since 5.5! Better text w/spell check, customizable shortcuts, heal and patch, shadow hilight, file browser etc.)

good luck, dave
