Hello,

I have installed the trial version of Genuine Fractals 3.0 (GF) for windows into the Plug-ins folder of Photoshop CS. The GF plug-in is showing up in the Help – About Pug-In menu, but I can’t locate it anywhere else in Photoshop. I have restarted both Photoshop and windows, still no luck. Any help is appreciated.

Mark,

Not sure about CS, but here’s the way it works in PS7:

GF doesn’t show up as a menu item in Photoshop. When you do a ‘save as’, you should be able to select the GF format (.stn) from the dropdown box.

When you open an .stn file in Photoshop, you’ll be presented with a dialog box that will let you scale the image, etc.

By the way, maybe it doesn’t matter, but I believe the GF plug-in needs to go into the File Formats folder (which is nested within the Plug-Ins folder).

Mark,

If you are playing with different interpolation algorithms, you may also try Pictura, which is an image manipulation I am developing. Pictura has a nice AQua-2 inteprolation algorithm that works well for smoother images. If you are interested visit

That’s where mine are in PS 7.
I’ve never tried to move them anywhere else just to see if they worked. And actually, the GF install put them there, I didn’t choose, best I remember.

In CS it is also used from SAVE AS.

have used gf from its inception and the above replies are correct. however, gf currently does not work with 16 bit files. since upgrading to cs, i started using photozoom pro, which supports 16 bit and found it to be a superior program with batch processing a selection of different types of resizing methods. check it out before you purchase gf.
